I was invited by come and shake hand and photograph with this bookie and his beautiful wife. Majority of people having self-respect politely rejected the invitation. Like I said, after AILA's memo came out yesterday, all the lawyers who were saying "it wont happen" have suddenly flipped and now they are saying "Anything can happen".
I have been asking this question for the past 1 year. I was always told that USCIS can not retrogress mid-month.
My guess is that USCIS told the lawyers that they will not retrogress mid month. Now USCIS is flip-flopping. That is why AILA wants to sue USCIS which probably means nothing: USCIS has lot of lawsuits!

The US immigration system is the only immigration system which has per country quota, last time I checked. If you are arguing equal opportunity then denying somebody from applying for permanent residency because on their country of origin is denying equal opportunity.
In fact the per country quota actually violates the philosophy of equal opportunity by providing benefits to people who entered much later into the game and ignoring people waiting for the same benefits, just because they are from a particular country.
If they were really interested in "equalizing" the ethnic mix of employees in the country, they shouldn't have made H1B dual intent or they should impose this 7% at the H1B level (I don't want to give anybody bright ideas considering the witch-hunt of H1Bs going on now).

Simple. If it wasn't for that ceiling the vast majority of the visas will go to applicants from the oversubscribed countries. Now this is not a bad thing if the visas are in unlimited supply. But since that's not the case, the country ceiling ensures that even people from smaller nations will get an equal oportunity to claim a visa before all the visa are grabbed by their BIG brothers and sisters. And what's more what ever is left is given back to the oversubscribed countries.
How can you call that unfair? Is it fair to deprive a person from a smaller country, equal chance to have go at his GC?

I mailed the following message to Senators, Representatives, President's Office, various News organizations sometime in April this year. No one bought it except for some standard reply from the Senator's Offices. At this time, when they have bigger issues, we would be at the bottom of the pile -
"The Economy is inching towards Recession. The President’s Economic stimulus plan will take at least 6 months to bring in the questionable benefits of the Plan. The Fed is aggressively cutting interest rates to turn around the economy. The questionable benefits of these will take a minimum of 6 months to bear fruit.
Nothing can prevent the economy from going into Recession if the Housing crisis is not fixed, neither the Economic stimulus nor the Feds cutting the interest rates.
Now, how do we fix this Housing Crisis. We need to figure out a way to add home buyers. Now, where are the buyers, you may ask. There is surprisingly an easy answer – Employment based Legal Immigrants. These are immigrants who came into this country legally, pay their taxes and social security and who apply for their Employment based Green Cards, the legal way.
There is a huge backlog of employment based legal immigrants who are waiting to get their Employment based permanent residency (Green card). There are approximately 750,000 applicants in line. This backlog has been caused by the annual quota of employment based green cards whose annual limit (140,000) was set decades ago.
These are the immigrants who have already passed through two stages of immigration processes – the Labor Certification where it has been verified that no American talent has been available for the Job Descriptions these immigrants were hired for and The I-140 where the employer is verified to be a genuine employer with financial ability to pay for the immigrants so that they don’t become a liability for the state. They are in the final stage of the Green Card process where this huge back log is.
On top of this, visas not used on a calendar year due to enough resources not available to process them, are wasted. Over the years, these un-used visas amount to around 160,000.
Increasing the annual quota of employment based Green cards from 140,000 to 300,000 would be ideal. Even Microsoft’s Bill Gates has supported this idea in his recent Congressional testimony on March 12, 2008. But that would require the act of Congress and the Senate and it needs to take its course. We need an immediate solution. Re-capturing the unused visas just needs some administrative fixes and this has been done in the past as recent as 2005.

For all those who are stating that filing in EB1 should not matter, please withdraw your application and let other people in line move ahead. Give me 1 simple reason, why should we not raise this issue. In hindi, there s an old saying "boondh boond karge ghara bartha hain"....
I will request all of you to send letters to USCIS to raise this issue and lets have a close scrutiny of all EB1 applicants received/filed....I understand that this is not the solution but i am pi***** at people using loopholes all the time.....

From the bottom of your heart can you tell the forum that there was no discrimination against Tamils in Sri Lanka after its independence from Great Britain.
War is in the northern and eastern provinces. Sinhala and Muslims were driven out of this area by the LTTE. Tamils live all over the country. Tamils lead regular life in other areas of the country that's not succumbed to the war, this includes the capital, colombo. They conduct business, attend universities/schools, they lead a regular life just like any other sinhala or muslims. Tamils lead prosperous lives in other parts than the north and east. The reason they can't live in the north or east is due to their own LTTE, the group that was supposed to liberate tamils.
If there's ethnic cleansing or genocide against tamils, Sinhala and muslim people should be killing tamils all over the country. This is not case in Sri Lanka. I have tamil friends and classmates, we went to school together. How come there are tamil ministers in the parliament. Oh ya... you think the immigration fees in US are low. Wait till this bill takes effect and you have to pay 5000 dollars just to get a damn H1-B then you will know who charges more for immigration fees.
As it is the fee is 1500 hundred dollars which is not a joke for lot of people. We normally don't complain because employers pick up the tab. By the way this doesn't even include the lawyer's fee yet.

It will suck blood out of your body for 5 years... So just do not read "Greener Side" of Canadian Immigration... I know it may not be applicable to all but more or less most of will have to face the same music in their careers. My all Canadian friends and relatives want to be Americans.. Only some of them practically could proceed for that.. After some stage of life it becomes hard to move families.. Worried that the data provided is inaccurate. If they provide accurate data (+/- 10%), follow the rules, then we can wait for our dates to turn in for years. But they always do math differently than any one else and move the visa bulletin dates which no one can understand how that was calculated.

We are all expecting that the VB will go back to June 2007 figure...it looks like that RoW has been so fast in getting the latest PD back which could come in a very few months time.

Yeah Ron Gotcher is speculating, but there is some credibility to what he is saying. He did predict the rapid movement of PDs toward the end of the year, in fact at one point he was extremely optimistic more than what happened to date. This is why people should not get so excited now. What EB2I got is a little hope, for most it will be false hope, a select few have green hope, but we will only know them by Sept. in retrospect.
For the rest of us it will be back to the drawing board, oops message board. My feeling is things are likely to be somewhere between the extremely pessimistic projections of Ron Gotcher and the extremely optimistic projections of VLRao.
I suspect the PD will move back to the April 2004 cutoff and then move forward slowly as spillover allows, so in other words at a rate faster than in the past. I stand by my view that we will need most of next year and perhaps some of 2010 spillover to quench the thirst of EB2I and C.

People in Quixstar and Amway can best be described as organisms who would like to prey on your humble attitude so they can eat away your wallet including your peace of mind. Like FBI, they are supposed to extract all the information about your job, relatives, wife, cousins, friends, and so on. They won't feel bad to ask as personal questions as what time you go to work, what you do on weekends, which movies you watch, what color of underwear you wear, etc. etc.

Their bodies still run a blood of human beings (so scientifically they are still classified as among the species of humanoids) but they are left to pest around the people at places like malls and shopping centers to suck the blood out of them, just like the brown-colored-termites in the backyard of my previous house.
It is run by people with covert personalities. Look at the definition of the word 'covert' and you will understand.
One day, I was talking to my uncle in punjabi language over the phone at Target store. After the conversation ended, I found a guy standing next to me in the same aisle. He told me "You speak punjabi too? It is hard to find people who speak punjabi here. By the way, I am also from Punjab" and he extends his hands forward. He asked me my orkut id, facebook id, phone number, which company I work for, when I do get off from work, when can I meet him for a cup of coffee. Thankfully, I knew these kind of people before.
One of my friends told me that Quixstar was first known as Amway in US. And they had to change the name to avoid taxes or some kind of heavy penalty.
Next time you step out of your house, remember what your mommy told you 20 years ago:
DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS. IF THEY OFFER YOU A CANDY, JUST SMILE. POLITELY SAY NO AND WALK AWAY.
