1. What is the use of a non-paying member?
-- probably when we need to send out the webfaxes.
What is lost if a non-paying member leaves?[/QUOTE]
a group of 8000 members always has more power than a group of 200 members..
I did not follow the I-485 filing debate; it was sickening. I made a one time contribution. I don't think I am included in the 220 count. I think there are very few members who have made a one time payment recently and are not included in 220.
I think, the count 220 includes only recurring payments that started this month. Some persons paid before this count started.
The only useful thing we can do is to work on contributions. It is hard to figure out reasons why persons are not paying. I think it will be useful if we guess all possible reasons and work on all of them.
We should not insult any non-paying member or anyone for that matter. I still want to know

Hi,
I own a D70
I too have become obsessive compulsive about the back focus issue.
I can see it (barely) when I use the kit lens.
It is Not there with the 50mm 1.8 Nikkor I have tried as well.
To the average user, you would never notice it. As far as I can tell, my BF is about 5mm behind what I lock on to. You really only see it if you are wide open and zoomed way in.
Im not sure if I want to bother sending it in. (Hassle)
Other than this issue I must tell you that the D70 is a fantastic camera!
I've used tons of cameras and this one functions beautifully.
It gets excellent color. (Skintones blow Canons away)

"I feel frustrated, angry, deceived," said Mahesh Pasupuleti, a software engineer in Emeryville who came from India eight years ago on an H-1B visa and has applied, with his employer's sponsorship, for a green card. Under the changes, he wouldn't be able to stay longer than six years, even if he were in line to receive a green card.
True, Savage is not for us. He is unpredictable as someone mentioned above. Today, he was quoting from an article which mentioned about immigrationvoice. He was reading the plight of some Mahesh ... . He said to go to home country. All H1B's came on a big lie. Oracle who is lobbying for H1and Mr Gates are all greedy etc. He was going on and on.

How many paystubs do you need to file for H1-extension.
In biweekly pays..can i send in 3-4 stubs....that is 2 months ..but i had taken a few days off (LOP)..hence they are not for full 80 hrs.. only the last months stubs are fro full 80 hrs.
will that be enough or do i need all 4-stubs to be 80 hrs????

You still haven't shown me the text from any of the three bills that says Masters in STEM are exempt from the EB cap. After all, that's the only thing that will prove you or me wrong.

I count you among the several "voices of reason and logic" in these forums since more-often-than-not you will do the research and provide appropriate links. So just ignore this "gceb1" idiot, and continue what you do. Ideally, everyone should ignore this "gceb1" idiot. :)

Hi,
I'm a bachelor and applied for 485 in July '07. I got my EAD, AP, FP etc. I'm using my H1B visa to work (not my EAD).
I'm currently working for Company X that filed by 485. If I do an H1B transfer and work full time for my client, Company Y, then after getting married and my priority date becoming current, who has to file my spouse's 485 - Company X, Company Y or can I go to any independent lawyer that is not working for Company X or Y?
Is the 485 application linked to the company that filed my labor and 140?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
greencardfever

The question is incorrect.
It should be, "How many of you have children that are non-US citizens?"
Reddog,
Smart.
It should be how many non-citizen children.
But you both missed one more applicant, the spouse.
The question should be,
Are you married and if so, how many children you have who are non-citizens. We do hope most of them should be unmarried:D.
Am I smart too..
:)

Premium processing for 485 will not solve any of the Retogression issues unless there is visa number increase or other provisions in CIR or SKILL.

Same here. Company attorney mailed 3 year H1/H4 extension today. Hopefully, I will get H4 approval and I-94 before April 1st. If not, I will pray for the H1 cap increase. And if not, I will apply for H1 later this year under Masters quota.
I heard you dont have to have masters requirement in the actual job offer to take advantage of Masters quota. Is that true?
Well, I am gonna give it a shot by going for PP and hope the H4 extension is approved as well along with 129. I will do that only if H1 cannot be filed for when a H4 application is pending. I am gonna check with some attorneys and will decide. The only catch is if you dont spend 2K or some thing you might lose 50/60K until oct 08 and time is of essence. Who wants to sit idle for so long?
H1B cap of 20K is for students with Masters Degree. If you have Masters Degree, you can file for H1 which will count against that cap. It has got nothing to do with job requirement.

My friend is also with Ron, and he is highly satisfied. My lawyer before is a Desi woman in New York. I am upset with her most of the times. Final RFE reply for my wife's (I-485) is send by me and got approved within a week. (lawyer asked me big $$$)
I didn't know Ron when I started my labor process.
My recomendation to everyone to go to Ron Gotcher to avoid headaches.
Been with Ron Gotcher for over 5 years now. Never ever had a problem. The best thing is you can talk to him or his son anytime regarding any immigration issues. I had lots of H1 issues with my current employer and he was gracious enough to talk to my employer several times and help them out without charging me a penny. I would highly recommend him.

LostInGCProcess,
The only reason I want to still enter on H4 is that my H4 is stamped until 2010, hence why not use it and save money and hassle on AP entry. As you have said that working on EAD immediately invalidates the H4 status. This is OK for me, but at least I have avoided the AP procedure stuff. Plus the primary applicant is on H1 and hence we both can enter on H1 and H4 respectively rather than one entering on H1 and the other on AP. Let me know if this clears your doubt and if so, can you think this would work out. Also, if you can, please respond to my other questions
Thanks,
There is no hassle when one enters on AP. You can continue to be on H1 and enter on H visa, and your wife can work on EAD and enter US using AP.
For all the questions that you have posted, the simple logic to follow, is once you use EAD, your H4 is invalid. Once you travel abroad and want to re-enter with H4 status, you are basically stating that you are going to comply with the immigration rules pertaining to H4 status. And then after entering you want to use EAD, then it would invalidate H4.
I suggest you consult a good immigration attorney.

Hi Guys,
I need your help on this. My cousin is running this small IT company in india and he mentioned that when US client sends their money to India via Pay Pal or some secure money transfer , they are charging them 4 % of transfer amount.
He ask me that what could be the best way to avoid this fees , some of the option that we thought about,
1) If they (cousin's company) open an bank account in USA and utilize this to transfer the money to indian bank account - Would they still need to pay US tax as money is being deposited into the US account?
2) If I utlize my bank account - I think in this scenarion I have to pay the US tax for whatever money the client is depositing into my account in order to make this legal transfer
3)If US client utilize remit2india, ICICI to transfer money which I highly doubt
I appriciate your responce on this.
